Your dog is one amazing creature . . . he can bring you your slippers, detect when you are feeling low and even try to cheer you up . . . by chasing his tail. But did you know there are a lot of amazing things about your pet that go hidden?

Read on to find out just what kinds of amazing surprises, quirks and abilities your pup has!

1. He Packs a Heavy Punch
Just call him Mike Tyson . . . if he were to nibble a little taste of the mail man his mouth could pack up to 150-200 pounds of pressure! Now that’s a good reason for a “Beware of Dog” sign.

2. Just Like Him . . . His Nose is One-of-a-Kind
Just like the fingerprints upon our hands no two dog noses are alike. The intricate designs that grace his sniffer can actually be used to identify him as %100 unique.

3. He Can’t Tell Time
Well, ok, that’s a no brainer . . . but even while we know dogs can’t “read the clock” we do assume that they have a general idea of time. However, science has proven that dogs have no “sense” of time. This is one reason why vet’s frown upon the “rub their nose in it” rule when it comes to potty training. Unless you can catch them in the act, they are going to “forget” why they are in trouble.

4. His Nose Knows
A dog’s sense of smell is 100,000 times keener than a human’s . . . so maybe what Fido means when he drags the trash all over the yard is “Sheesh! This stuff stinks . . . please take it to the dump!”

5. He’s Psychic . . . Well, We Think
According to science, a dog can sense frequencies of 30,000 times per second. Because of this and other highly sensitive senses . . . scientists believe that dogs are more susceptible to supernatural phenomena – so the next time your dog barks at “nothing” – don’t be so sure he’s just grumpy.

6. He Needs Your Approval
As it is in the wild, dogs crave the approval of the pack leader. This is why he is always trying to please you . . . but this still doesn’t explain why he eats your best pumps.

7. Movement “Moves” Them
While people may look before they leap, dog’s first notice the movement of an object or person. This is because in the wild, movement is very important to a dog’s survival . . . i.e. catching prey, protecting their pack . . . After movement a dog notices an object’s brightness and shape.

8. Dogs and Humans Share Something Strange
Ok . . . we know it sounds weird but dogs and humans are the only creatures alive who have a prostate – and if you have had your appendix removed you share something else in common . . . you have no appendix.

9. He Can Detect Seizures
While it takes a little training to get it right, dogs can detect seizures. They can learn how to detect their on-set, how to put their head beneath yours to lift you from the bathtub and even how to prevent seizures. How about that?!

10. He’s Older Than You Think
If you notice your pup is temperamental and has taken on an attitude all his own . . . your pup is probably one year old – this translates in maturity to that of a fifteen year old . . . yea – you know the most fun age of all. (Note the sarcasm parents.)

11. He Doesn’t Sweat . . . Much
The only sweat glands that your pup has are located between his paw pads. Guess he doesn’t need to borrow your deodorant after all . . . so maybe, just maybe, that funky “dog” smell is not from sweating and playing but from eating poop. Who knew?

12. He Has Super Strong Ears
Not only can your pet hear ten times better than you . . . he has twice the muscle in his ears! Talk about one tough cookie!

When it comes to unique . . . it’s no secret that your pup is a one of a kind creation. But what makes him the most special of all?

He belongs to you.
